State bill allows freedom of religious expression for high school athletes

The Ohio House of Representatives last week passed Senate Bill 181, sponsored by State Senator Theresa Gavarone, to protect freedom of religious expression for student-athletes.

Girls basketball defeats Maumee, 49-25, for third consecutive win

Last Saturday night, the Rossford High School girls varsity basketball team defeated Maumee, 49-25 at the George G. Wolfe Fieldhouse. It was the Bulldogs’ third consecutive victory and their fourth in the past five games, with the only loss a closely contested game against Eastwood.

Bulldogs roll over Lake, 79-57, outlast Wauseon, 64-53

The Rossford Bulldogs rolled onto another victory last Friday night when they shot down Lake, 79-57. The game marked the start of the second round of boys basketball league play in the Northern Buckeye Conference.

Two named to Athletic Hall of Fame for 2022

The 2022 Rossford High School Athletic Hall of Fame class will be introduced Friday, January 28, during halftime of the varsity basketball game. Emanuel “Manny” Durden, Class of 1989, and Dennis “DJ” Recknagel, Class of 2011, are being honored.

Youth sought for patriotic speaking competition at Eagles March 12

The Rossford Eagles post is inviting local youth ages 10 to 15 to participate in a “God, Flag and Country” competition. Students will give a threeminute talk Saturday, March 12, on the related subject of their choice.

Bulldogs fall short to St. John’s in MLK showcase

The Rossford boys basketball team proved their competitiveness January 17, battling the entire game before narrowly losing to the Toledo St. John’s Titans, 53-52. The game was part of the second annual Rossford MLK Showcase, a basketball event that focused on honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

Girls basketball team starting to develop chemistry facing second half of season; defeats Fostoria 54-52

At the beginning of the varsity girls basketball season, Rossford Head Coach Toby Ledesma recognized it might take the Bulldogs half a season to gain some chemistry and get used to playing together.

The Bulldog boys basketball team defense applied an intense effort last Friday night, neutralizing the Genoa Comets, 73-45.

Alumni basketball game scheduled for January 22

Former Rossford High School boys basketball players are invited to play in an alumni game Saturday, January 22. It will take place at 2 p.m. at the Rossford Junior-Senior High School gym.

Bulldogs whip Woodmore, 75-36

Rossford put forth one of its most dominating performances of the season last Saturday night when they whipped the Woodmore Wildcats 75-36 in a Northern Buckeye Conference varsity basketball game at the George G. Wolfe Fieldhouse.
