ROBERT “BOB” JOSEPH GALERNIK

Robert “Bob” Joseph Galernik, 72, of Rossford, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home Monday, July 5, 2021, surrounded by his close family. He was born in Toledo, on December 17, 1948, to Alice and Casimer Galernik. He was married to his love and soulmate, Linda Lee Zajac.

Bob attended St. Mary Magdalene Grade School and served as an altar boy. He graduated from Rossford High School in 1966 and from the University of Toledo in 1973 with a bachelor’s degree in education.

Bob was a high school teacher for 37 years at Libbey High School, retiring in 2010. He was chairperson and head of the social studies department during his career. Bob enjoyed being a part of the Libbey High School golf and bowling leagues.

He was a faithful member of All Saints Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir for many years. He loved to cook and grill and was always making up new recipes, especially ones using fresh ingredients from his much loved vegetable garden.

Bob was an avid Notre Dame football fan, attending numerous games, and always looking forward to football season. He was kind, mild mannered and always eager to help his friends, family and neighbors. But most of all, he loved spending time with his nephew, Mikey. They were inseparable.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Linda Galernik; daughter, Stephanie (Brett) Boehme; brother, Gerald (Kathleen) Galernik; father-in-law, Kenneth Zajac; special nephew, Mikey Cutcher, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Friends were received at Sujkowski-Walker Funeral Home, Rossford (419-666-1566) on Friday, July 9, from 2 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation continued Saturday, July 10, at All Saints Catholic Church, 628 Lime City Road, Rossford, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., with a Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m.
