Tyrone “Ty” Daniel Rupp passed peacefully into eternity on Friday, September 25, surrounded by his three daughters.
Ty was born on February 5, 1938, in Wauseon, to Alfred and Vera (Schrock) Rupp. He married his junior high sweetheart Judy Kay Kolb, and together raised Minda (Bob) Bailey, Kelly Rupp and Amy Driver, most of those years in Rossford. His precious Judy passed in 2003, after 43 beautiful years together.
Ty was blessed a second time to marry Marian Sarver in 2007, and they shared 15 wonderful years of marriage filled with love and companionship until her passing in 2022. Marian and her family were a loving addition to Ty’s life.
He was a physical therapist for 47 years, attaining his degree at Hope College, where he played football and baseball. Ty considered his profession an extension of love to those he helped, and he was highly regarded by both his patients and his colleagues. His first job was establishing the first physical therapy department at Detwiler Memorial Hospital in Wauseon. During the 1970’s, he served as chief of therapy at Flower Hospital in Toledo, helping lead the department through the hospital’s transition from its downtown location to its new location in Sylvania. He spent many years in home health as well. Working in his beautiful yard was his passion and his own therapy. Every plant and blade of grass at his home of 55 years has been planted lovingly.
Ty’s life was grounded in his deep faith in Jesus. He loved people genuinely and authentically cared about their lives and concerns. He would always listen, pray for others and offer encouragement. His faith was not simply something he believed; it was something he lived daily through the love and care he showed to those around him. His quiet generosity to family, neighbors, strangers and charities defined who he was in Jesus.
Ty was blessed with eight grandchildren, and 10 greatgrandchildren. His grandchildren include Aubrei Smith, Lauren (Steve) Wenzel, Allison (Blake) Williams, Zachary (Rachel) Driver, Alexa (Jacob) Heath, Peyton (Adam) Krueger, Delanie Yocum and Taylor Jefferis.
His 10 great-grandchildren are Mason, Cora Belle, Kennedy, Brooks, Parker, Bailey, Julian, Lucas, Morgan and Beckham, and Ty had a deep love and interest in each one.
He also had many nieces and nephews that he loved and adored.
Ty chose to donate his body to the University of Toledo Medical Center (UTMC) for medical education, a final gift that reflects his lifelong desire to help others.
A Celebration of Life for Ty will be held on Friday, October 16, at Archbold Evangelical Church in Archbold. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., with the service starting at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow.
Donations may be given to the building fund at Oak Bend Church, Perrysburg, or the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN).
Ty will be remembered for his faith, his love for his family, his compassion for others and the many lives he touched throughout his life.
