Jean Francis (Thoman) Matuszak of Maumee, passed away on September 22, 2022, after a short, valiant, but unsuccessful fight against cancer. She was surrounded by her closest loved ones. She was a devoted and loving wife, wonderful mom and an amazing grandma.
Jean was born October 20, 1946, in Toledo, to Harry and Helen Thoman. She married the love of her life, Thomas Matuszak, on July 18, 1970. She graduated from Whitney Vocational School and worked both at National City Bank and as a homemaker.
Jean loved spending time with her family. Her two granddaughters, Ashlynd and Cecilia, meant so much to her and she loved spoiling them most of all. When she could, she loved watching her granddaughters enjoy their extracurricular activities. She loved spending time at the beach, going for walks and looking for shells. Sitting in her beach chair with her feet in the sand was her happy place. She very much enjoyed going to Bronner’s with her family and eating chicken dinners at the Bavarian Inn. She enjoyed sitting in their sunroom in the mornings with Tom listening to country music.
Jean is survived by her husband, Thomas Matuszak; daughters, Christa Matuszak of Toledo and Sarah (David) Raymer of Waterville; granddaughters, Ashlynd (Emily) Salyer of Willard and Cecilia Raymer of Waterville, and her brother, Harry Thoman (Darlene) of Toledo.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and brother.
Per her wishes, there will be a private family service.
Memorials may be made in her name to Hospice of Northwest Ohio at hospice nwo.org/forms/donate-online-today/.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sujkowski-Walker Funeral Home.
