Katherine (Kazia Klepacz) Gutowski passed away on August 20, 2026, and was welcomed by her loving husband, Richard, of 68 years, who died in October 2018, and was now awaiting her to be together for eternity.
Katherine was born on July 27, 1930, in Rossford, sixth and youngest child of Peter and Felicia Klepacz. When her children were in grade school, she was president of the PTA and den mother for the Scouts. Before re-entering the work-force and after raising her family, she enrolled in adult education classes at Penta Center, University of Toledo and Owens Community College. She worked at Penta High School and then at Prestolite Electric Company, from which she retired. Katherine volunteered as a reader at All Saints School and the Rossford Library, volunteered at the Rossford Recreation Center, member of Women’s Golf League, a poll worker, a member of the YMCA where she swam regularly and a member of the Towne Club of Toledo. Her greatest joy was babysitting her grandchildren, Jessica and John. Katherine was a lifetime member of All Saints Catholic Church.
Katherine is survived by her children, Thomas (Judy) Gutowski, Gerald Gutowski and Rebecca (Gordie) Chauvin; grandchildren, Jessica (Devin) Howard, Bartley J. Lydy II (Diana Lopez) and Matthew (Christina) Radecki, and great-grandchild, Sofia Lydy. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard, whom she married on June 24, 1950; brothers, John, Francis, Raymond and Stanley, and sister, Matilda Klepacz.
Katherine’s body was donated to the UTMC Medical Center, per her wishes. Her ashes, together with Richard’s, will be interred in a single grave at Ft. Meig’s Cemetery, Perrysburg.
A Memorial Mass was held on September 5, at 10 a.m., with a visitation onehour prior at 9 a.m., at All Saints Catholic Church in Rossford.
