Edward Schimmel announces run for Ohio House District 44

Northwood Mayor Edward “Ed” Schimmel announced he will seek the Republican nomination for Ohio’s 44th House District, which will be open in 2026 after State Representative Josh Williams announced he will run for Congress.The district includes portions of Lucas, Ottawa and Wood counties.

There is a lot to love at the Rossford Public Library this February.Our winter storytime session will continue through February 18. The 4 to 6-year-old storytime group meets Monday evenings at 6 p.m. and Tuesdays at noon.The 1-2-3 Read group meets Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m.

NAMI offers mental health education to community

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Wood County will offer a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) workshop. A free self-designed course to identify personal wellness tools is set for Thursday and Friday, February 12 and 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m, virtually.

New tween book club at Rossford Library

The Rossford Public Library is excited to host its new tween book club, “Left on ‘Read.’” The club is open to kids and teens between grades 6-8 and will meet the first Wednesday of the month, with the start-up meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m.

Red Cross seeks donors to rebuild supply

Recent winter storms have had a severe impact on efforts to rebuild the blood supply during the ongoing blood shortage. Donors of all blood types are asked to make a blood or platelet donation appointment as soon as possible.
