Meals offered every second Saturday

On the second Saturday of every month, warm meals to-go are provided by the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo and available at the Perrysburg Heights Community Center, 12282 Jefferson Street, Perrysburg.

Humane Society director to speak at conferences

Megann Smith, director of operations for the Wood County Humane Society (WCHS), will be a featured speaker at two prominent animal welfare conferences this spring. Her expertise and dedication to animal welfare have earned her the honor of speaking at the Humane Society of the United States Expo in San Antonio, Texas, on May 18, and the National Kitten Coalition virtual conference on June 8.

CASA/GAL seeks volunteers to advocate for children

Since 1988, Wood County CASA/GAL volunteers have advocated on behalf of children who have experienced abuse, neglect or dependency by gathering information about them for the juvenile court. The volunteers serve a crucial role in keeping the court informed on the children’s well-being, placement and needed services.

Rossford residents and visitors experience total solar eclipse

The 2024 total solar eclipse on April 8 was out of this world and Rossford did not skimp on the celebration. The eclipse drew thousands of visitors to the area, many of whom were staying at hotels on Clark Drive, which led the Eclipse on Clark event, sponsored by the Rossford Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Wood County CIT Officer of the Year awarded to RPD Sergeant Anthony Allen

Sergeant Anthony Allen of the Rossford Police Department was honored by NAMI Wood County for his service to the community and commitment to achieving the goals of Wood County’s Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program. This award honors an officer’s commitment to improving outcomes for people in crisis and recognizing the value of community policing and justice.

Penta Career Center recognized with 5- Star award

For the district’s performance on the career tech report card, Penta Career Center received the 2023 5-Star Award. At the April 10 meeting, Superintendent Ed Ewers told the school board that the district received the award for its performance on the 2022-23 career technical planning district report card.
