National Project Linus blanket day will be held on Saturday, February 17, at Living Faith United Methodist Church, 1240 Columbus Avenue, Holland. The mission of Project Linus is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gift of new, handmade, washable blankets and afghans, crafted by volunteer blanketeers. Anyone who can learn to tie a square knot is invited to join anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

February Book Challenge: Blind Date with a Book Join the library’s monthly book challenge in February for a blind date with a book. Handpicked books will be disguised in bags to hide the cover and title and will be labeled with select words/synopsis to help readers choose the right date.

TOPICS Camera Club, a non-profit organization open to everyone, will meet Wednesday, February 14, at 6:30 p.m., at the Monclova Community Center, 8115 Monclova Road, Monclova. February’s emphasis will be on optical illusion photos.

Penta Career Center’s newest program may be starting out small, but it has big aspirations. This school year, the district in conjunction with Springfield Local Schools, introduced phlebotomy.

The Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission has approved a budget of $254 million for capital improvement projects across the 241mile toll road. This includes nearly $238 million for projects beginning in 2024 and the completion of prior year projects.

At the January 8 meeting, the Perrysburg Township zoning commission reviewed a zoning request for four parcels at Avenue and Ayers roads. Latty LLC submitted a request to rezone four parcels from R-3 suburban residential medium density to R-4A suburban residential high density.

The Grand Rapids Town Hall Committee and Historical Society of Grand Rapids will host a screening of the silent movie “The Kid Brother” on Saturday, February 17. The film, starring Harold Lloyd, will be shown at 7 p.m., in the auditorium of the Historic Grand Rapids Town Hall.
