Hospice offers assistance in completing advance healthcare directives

In recognition of National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD) on April 16, Hospice of Northwest Ohio reminds the community of a program that provides free, guided conversations by trained facilitators in the completion of advance healthcare directives. NHDD is a day set aside to encourage everyone, healthy or coping with a serious illness, to think about, discuss and document healthcare wishes. These conversations take about an hour and can be repeated as often as necessary as situations, goal or values change.

Jazz and art festival issues call for artists

The annual Sunset Jazz and Art Festival, sponsored by the Grand Rapids Arts Council, is planned for Sunday, August 13, from 2 p.m. until sunset. It will be held along the towpath of the Maumee River in Grand Rapids.

‘Sip and Stroll’ at arts festival

HeART Gallery, in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 428 North Erie Street, Toledo, will kick off its annual Spring Arts Festival with a “Sip and Stroll” event that will feature the work of local artists. Each art piece provides inspiration for a coordinating tablescape, designed by a member of local garden club, bringing creative ideas to life with unique materials displayed as a table setting.

NAMI lists upcoming classes, events

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Wood County is a self-help organization offering free events, educational classes, support groups and other programs that address mental health for the Wood County community. It has a variety of free programming throughout the year available to all Wood County residents.

Festival of Lively Arts set

Central Catholic High School presents its Festival of Lively Arts on Thursday, April 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. This free event is open to the public and features student visual artwork, a drama skit and live musical performances by the CCHS String Orchestra, Concert Band, Mixed Chorus and Glee Club, as well as a preview of the school’s spring musical, “Cinderella.” The artwork will be displayed on the Mettler Street lower level..

Foundation gains scholarshipgranting organization status

The Mustard Seed Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational opportunities for Catholic elementary students, has been granted the status of certified scholarshipgranting organization by the State of Ohio under section 5747.73 of the Ohio Revised Code. This status allows eligible donors to obtain a tax credit for contributions up to $750 for individuals or $1,500 for married couples filing jointly.

RHS students inducted into Penta NTHS

Two Rossford High School students who attend Penta Career Center were among 14 students inducted into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) during a March 30 ceremony. Arryannah Gomoll, culinary arts, and Amber Hall, early childhood education, were inducted and recognized for their career-technical achievements.
