Couple helps Hannah’s Socks

John and Mary Strzelecki will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 23. In honor of their milestone, the couple donated 50 pairs of socks to Hannah’s Socks, a community based non-profit organization dedicated to helping people affected by homelessness, poverty and domestic abuse in Ohio and southeast Michigan.

Wood County Museum to hold safety fair and car cruise‐in, June 24

On Saturday, June 24, Wood County Museum and Safe Communities of Wood County will host its “Cruise-In for a Safe Summer,” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of the Wood County Museum, 13660 County Home Road, Bowling Green. The free community event is presented by USA Insulation and Edwin and Irma Wolf. Guests will be able to get an up-close look at fire trucks, police cruisers, first responder vehicles, tractors, farm equipment and construction equipment. Vendors specializing in safety information will also be onsite. A kid’s zone with activities, inflatable bounce houses and obstacle course, food trucks and a quiet sensory room will be available.

Students explore career options at Penta advanced STEM camp

In June, more than 400 students from Penta Career Center’s 16-member school districts who have an interest in science, technology, engineering and math participated in the annual STEM camp. Held at Penta Career Center in Perrysburg Township, over a two-week period, the camp was offered to third to sixth grade students, as well as those in grades seven through nine.

Safety Town 2023 holds graduation

The Rossford Police department and Rossford Schools celebrated their 2023 Safety Town graduation on June 16. This year, 25 kindergarteners enrolled in the week-long program, where they learned about being safe when alone or unsupervised: whether it be in the home, on the playground or while crossing the street.

Maumee High School seeking alumnus award nominations

Maumee City School District is seeking nominees for its 2024 Maumee High School Distinguished Alumnus Awards through August 15. The award honors graduates of Maumee High School who have made noteworthy achievements in their chosen careers or have served as an overall benefactor to humankind.
