Twp. trustees review proposed change to tree planting and landscaping; authorize purchase of new ambulance

The Perrysburg Township trustees heard a first reading on a proposed change to tree and landscaping requirements in public rights-of-way. At the June 21 meeting, Administrator Jon Eckel asked the trustees to consider the new resolution, which calls for any person, association, business or developer to obtain a permit prior to working in the right-of-way.

Rossford Library hosts Touch-a-Truck event

On June 29, the Rossford Public Library hosted a Touch-a-Truck event in the library parking lot. The event was planned in conjunction with the “All Together Now” theme of this year’s Summer Reading Club, explained Lauren Kuhr, children’s librarian.

Steam Threshers to host antique display July 16

The days of yesteryear will be on display Sunday, July 16, at the Five Point Steam Threshers 61st annual reunion. The event, free and open to the public, will feature wheat threshing and plowing demonstrations, along with a variety of antique tractors, gas and steam engines.

Water assistance program extended through September

Families who need help with water utility expenses are encouraged to seek assistance through the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program, a program through the Great Lakes Community Action Partnership. The deadline to apply for assistance has been extended to September 30.

Ohio publishes Wood County retirement systems audit

The state Auditor of Ohio, Keith Faber, has published an audit of the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System, the largest public pension fund in the state of Ohio. The office found that the census data utilized and provided by the state is accurate and complete.

Ohio Turnpike paving way for open road tolling

The Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission’s new toll collection system (TCS), which started as a vision and study in 2016, is now nearing completion. More than 20 construction projects–including four new and reconstructed mainline toll plazas–are required to modernize the TCS, which will create open road tolling lanes for E-ZPass customers to travel non-stop across the entire state at the highway speed of 70 mph.
