Dear Editor:Every time I spot a cluster of dandelions, it brings back a vivid memory of one of my children calling me “pretty like a dandelion.” At the time, I was offended—wasn’t a dandelion just a weed, something people worked hard to get rid of?

SOS Club launching new program

The SOS (Serving Our Soldiers) Club is launching a new program entitled Connect with a Veteran. SOS members will correspond with military veterans, sending cards, letters, small snacks and potentially invite veterans to speak with students at Rossford High School.

Volunteers sought to rebuild Carter Farm barn

The Wood County Park District is seeking volunteers to help rebuild the historic Carter Farm barn on Thursday, July 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Reuthinger Memorial Preserve, 30730 Oregon Road, Perrysburg.During the workshop, participants will be replacing the wood siding on the west end.

Lady Dogs hold 23rd annual golf outing

The RHS Lady Dogs softball program’s annual golf outing will be August 2, 8 a.m., at the Chippewa Golf Course, 23550 West State Route 579, Curtice.The event costs $85, which includes golfing, cart and dinner held at the American Legion in Rossford, 145 Bergin Street.

Steam Threshers to host 63rd annual reunion on July 20

The days of yesteryear will be on display Sunday, July 20, at the Five Point Steam Threshers 63rd annual reunion.The event, free and open to the public, will feature wheat threshing and plowing demonstrations, along with a variety of antique tractors, gas and steam engines.
