Marilyn “Marny” Louise (Donenwirth) Jacoby, age 93, peacefully passed away on October 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Marny was born on January 22, 1932, in Canton, Ohio, and attended Ohio Wesleyan University, majoring in both English and German, and graduated cum laude. Afterward, she was recruited and offered a position with the CIA and also was offered a full-ride scholarship in the department of psychology at the University of Chicago. Marny chose to marry her loving husband, Dale H. Jacoby, and start a family.
Marny worked in a medical department at the Ohio State University after college and always filled in at Dale’s dental practice whenever needed. She was passionate about serving and volunteering in her community and devoted time to help guide efforts at the Rossford Public Library, the Wood County Board of Mental Health, CCL, Rossford High School, her church and with friends. Traits that were particularly strong in Marny were that she was always hopeful and positive in her outlook, particularly in times of adversity.
Marny was kind, gentle, good-hearted and lived a life that demonstrated the importance of ethics and morals.
Throughout her life, Marny was an avid reader, inquisitive, dignified, a good listener and liked to think about and discuss topics with objectivity. She was knowledgeable about a wide array of topics and liked to be challenged by ideas. She enjoyed singing, playing bridge, cooking, camping, painting, the outdoors, gardening, traveling and flying with Dale. In addition, she loved baking from old family recipes, passing down stories about family history, and raising her four daughters.
Marny is survived by her daughters, Anne Whiting, Jill Simon, Jennifer Jacobs and Leslie Young, and has six grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. Marny was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be forever missed.
