Jonathan “Johnny” Samuel Peterson, age 51, passed away unexpectedly on August 9,2025. Born on August 21, 1973, in Toledo, Johnny grew up on Lime City with his seven siblings and his loving parents, Charles and Donna Peterson. He was a proud attendant of Rossford and Eastwood High School, Class of 1991.

Johnny’s life was filled with love and excitement. He was always surrounded by his family and felt staying together was the most important aspect of life. After working all day, he always had time to play with all of the kids, grill up some delicious food or sit around a fire and listen to Pink Floyd.

Johnny was an outdoorsman through and through. As an avid hunter, he spent over half of the year in the woods, accomplishing great feats, including trophy bucks, beautiful pheasant and more. His skill in archery and shooting was unmatched, often impressing onlookers. Nobody’s eyes or reflexes were as sharp as his. He was always the first to spot a deer and could catch anything with his own hands. Johnny was an expert of the forest and enlightened those closest to him when they accompanied him there. He spent hours riding dirt bikes and quads all around the farmland of Perrysburg. Many memories were made riding in Sawyers Quarry, jumping hills, popping wheelies and running home when caught on private property. Johnny loved motorcycles, owning multiple sport bikes and Harley’s in his life. He was a skilled motorcyclist, and could be seen showing off on the road. Johnny was fearless, strong and gifted. A family man with a wild side, he instilled in his children and loved ones the importance of forgiveness, love and loyalty.

Left to cherish his memories are his children, Zachary Lopez, Haley Peterson and Hannah (Charles) Rinker; Johnny’s grandchildren, Zaryana, Sevro, Zackery, Naomi and Fredrick. He is survived by his parents, Charles Peterson and Donna (Duhl) Peterson; siblings, Tim Hart, Lisa Peterson, Jacki (Bobby) Bennett, Jodi Kellogg, Jeff Peterson and Jami Peterson. He is loved by so many more nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends left behind. Jonathan was preceded in death by his son, Lucas Lopez, and sister, Elaine Hart.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Johnny at Sujkowski-Walker Funeral Home in Rossford, on Friday, August 22, from 4 to 7 p.m., with a service to follow.

Memorial contributions can be made to the children of Jonathan Peterson.
