December 15, 1925 – October 3, 2024 Centennial, CO

Jennie Gargotto, age 98, passed peacefully away in Centennial, Colorado, on October 3, surrounded by her family.

Jennie was born in Rossford on December 15, 1925, to the late John and Emilia (Tomaszewski) Andryc. Jennie graduated from Rossford High School in 1943 and went on to receive her nursing degree, and work as an airline stewardess for American Airlines. She eventually worked as a registered nurse at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Toledo for 45 years. At 80 years old, Jennie moved to Colorado to be near her two children, two grandchildren and great-grandchild, who were the pride of her life and whom she adored. She was a woman of great faith, attending Mass daily from the age of 17. She often said “the joy of her life is to go to Mass and receive the body and blood of Christ.” She obtained her bachelor’s degree in theology at the age of 84 and was the oldest graduate to ever receive this honor from the institution she attended. She was known for her passionate scholarly discussions/ teachings with family and friends and loved to visit the shrines of Europe after she retired. She will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family, her love of God with daily Mass and hours spent in prayer, her beautiful spirit of generosity and compassion, her fierce discipline and tenacity, and good humor. Her favorite sayings were “do it now” and “what goes around comes around,” and “I don’t care how you slice it or dice it, it all gets back to God.”

She is survived by her two children, Charles (Ann) Gargotto, Kathleen Gargotto; grandchildren, Joseph (Sarah) Gargotto, Jennifer (Chase) Beck, and great-grandchild, Emma Beck. A private family Mass was held at St. Thomas More Church on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, and interment followed at Dignity Chapel Hill Cemetery.
