James Allen Rossler Sr., lovingly known as “Spike” to his friends, passed away on June 13, 2023, in Toledo, at the age of 91. He was born on July 7, 1931, in Toledo, to Arthur and Mary (Danilak) Rossler, and resided in his beloved hometown of Rossford.

Jim attended Rossford Schools and graduated in 1949. He went on to pursue a bachelor of arts degree in business from the University of Toledo, laying the foundation for a successful and fulfilling professional life. Throughout his career, Jim worked at L-O-F, Davis College and Toledo Public Schools, leaving an indelible mark on the educational institutions he served.

In 1955, Jim embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship when he married Lillian Strahoska. Their marriage was a testament to devotion and their family until Lillian’s passing in 2019.

Jim’s commitment to his country was evident through his service in the U.S. Air Force and was a Korean War veteran. Jim had the privilege to take an Honor Flight to Washington D.C., to see the Korean War Memorial. His dedication extended beyond his military duties, as he actively engaged with his community in various capacities. He served on the Owens Community College board and the Rossford Board of Education.

A man of strong family bonds, Jim was an exceptional son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His unwavering love and support enriched the lives of his loved ones. He cherished every moment spent with his family, especially during holidays, and looked forward to his annual musky fishing trip to Canada with his sons that created lasting memories. Jim had a few simple pleasures that brought him immense joy. He had an unwavering love for Jelly Belly jellybeans, which never failed to put a smile on his face.

He is survived by his sons, James (Kelly) Rossler Jr., Mike (Amy Johnson) Rossler; grandchildren, Alexandra (Brent) Monday, Alyssa (Bob) Desmond, Alayna (Justin) Harnden, Greg Rossler, and greatgrandchildren, Charlotte Desmond, Macie Desmond and Lillian Monday.

The family would like to give sincere thanks and gratitude for the amazing care Jim received at Toledo Hospital in the cardiac ICU, especially Amy and KC, as well as Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the care in his final hours.
