Dr. Dale Howe Jacoby, age 91, passed away on December 23, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Dale was born on October 16, 1931, in Evanston, Illinois. He grew up in Fostoria, Ohio, and attended dental school at the Ohio State University.
Following dental school, Dale served in the U.S. Air Force, then moved to Rossford, where he began his dental practice in Oregon. Dale regularly helped many patients in need, both in his practice and within the community. He donated time to the homeless for those in need of dental work, he made home visits to patients when travel to his office was difficult, and he served on local and state dental boards throughout his career. Dale also was a public servant throughout his life. He believed in volunteering in his church, within his community and affiliations of interest. After retirement, he moved to Raleigh to be with family, where he served at a local food bank and volunteered at Duke Raleigh Hospital.
Dale was an avid pilot. He was inspired to fly by his uncle, a U.S. Navy pilot. He then went on to become a flight instructor and taught many students over the next several decades.
Throughout his life, Dale exemplified the true definition of humility. He did not speak of the deeds, time and help that he gave to others. His actions, the commitment to the community and to those in need, were his “words.” Often, his own children never knew of accomplishments and accolades he received until much later in life.
Dale is survived by his loving wife, Marny (Marilyn) Jacoby; his four daughters, Anne Whiting, Jill Simon, Jennifer Jacobs and Leslie Young. He has six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Dale was dearly loved by his family and will be forever missed.
