Daniel P. Kopy Jr., age 65, of Norwalk, California, died Wednesday, December 13, 2023.

Daniel was born on January 31, 1958, in Oregon, Ohio, the son of the late Daniel P. Kopy Sr. and Helen (Gezo) Kopy. Upon graduation from Rossford High School in 1976, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. During his military tenure he served as a Missile Systems Maintenance Specialist and was stationed at George AFB, in Victorville, California. He was a member of the George AFB drill team and honor guard.

Following his enlistment, he enrolled at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he met Cathy, the love of his life, on the first day of school in a beginning Spanish class. He went on to earn a bachelor of science degree from Weber State University, Ogden, Utah, and an MBA from Pepperdine University, Malibu, California.

During his working career, he worked at Hughes Missile Systems Division, Canoga Park, California; Northrop Aircraft B2 Division, Pico Rivera, California, and Garrett/AiResearch/ AlliedSignal/ Honeywell Aerospace, Torrance, California, where he worked for more than 30 years.

Outside of work, he enjoyed tinkering with his enviable

collection of vintage cars and motorcycles. The exhaust note of a big block engine was music to his ears. He also liked puttering around in the yard, cooking, ballroom dancing, listening to music and traveling the world with his wife.

Daniel was a member of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Los Alamitos, California, where he sang in the chancel choir. Singing praise to God Almighty made his heart sing.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Cathy (White) Kopy; their three kitties, Inkspot, Rascal and Woody; sisters, Gail Bonner (Steve) and Gerry Sue Taylor (Greg); sister-in-law, Cindy Hantz (Fred), and several nieces and nephews, Matthew Bonner, Megan Stockton, Aaron Bonner, Daniel Hantz, Jennifer Morgan and Brian Hantz.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled on Saturday, January 27, at 11 a.m., at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, 11600 Los Alamitos Boulevard, Los Alamitos, California 90720. Lunch will be served immediately following the service.
