On March 14, 2026, Myrtle Marie Gobbell (Smith) followed her husband, Dexter Gobbell, of 66 years to heaven’s gate.

Myrtle was born on June 9, 1940, to Louis Allen and Robbie (Morris) Smith in Waynesboro, Tennessee. In Waynesboro, she attended Wayne County High School, where she would meet her husband, Dexter Gobbell. They would eventually move to Rossford, where they raised two daughters together.

Though she was a stay-athome mother, she would go around town and clean houses for a living in her spare time. She loved to sew and work on other crafts. The most important thing in her life was her family. She always made sure her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren were taken care of.

She was an extremely devoted Chistian woman and started off as a member of Western Avenue Church of Christ before she became a member of Echo Meadows Church of Christ.

She stayed at Echo Meadows until 1988, after her husband helped build Hope in Christ Church in Perrysburg, and was a devoted member there from the time they opened until the day it closed in 2019. After the closing of Hope in Christ Church in Perrysburg, she and her husband returned as members of Echo Meadows Church of Christ.

Myrtle is survived by her daughters, Bernadine Irelan (Ted Irelan) and Lee Ann Retar (Robert A. Boykin); her four grandchildren, Brandon Gobbell, Tiffany Cluckey, Chris Retar and Cody Retar; nine greatgrandchildren, and one greatgreat- grandchild, along with four surviving younger brothers.

Friends will be received on Thursday March 19, at Sujkowski-Walker Funeral Home, 830 Lime City Road, Rossford, from 5 p.m. until the time of services at 7 p.m.
