Neil Angus MacKinnon Jr., age 83, of Perrysburg, died Saturday February 14, 2026, at Story Point in Waterville. He was born January 31, 1943, in Dayton, to Mr. and Mrs. Neil Angus (Katherine Whitmore) MacKinnon. He graduated from Rossford High School in 1961 and Eastern Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in business in 1966. Later, he was inducted into the Rossford Athletic Hall of Fame.
Upon graduation from EKU he joined his father, Neil MacKinnon, as a commercial estimator and salesman at the Nordmann Roofing Company. He became president of Nordmann and retired as CEO in 2007. He served as president of the Toledo Area Roofers Contractors Association, president of the Toledo Roofers Apprenticeship Program, chairman of the Toledo Area Pension Fund and the Johns Manville Advisory Board. He served as chairman of the Rossford Blood Drive. He was a member of Rossford United Methodist Church and a former member of the Belmont Country Club. He was on the Board of Bancites Inc.
He married Elaine Burwell in 1965, and they celebrated 60 years of marriage this past December. Neil was an avid fisherman and pheasant hunter. He belonged to the Sunnybrook Trout Club and the WR Hunt Club. He took annual fishing trips with his friends and sons to Canada, Alaska and Great Bear Lake in the Arctic Circle. Neil especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports.
In 1994, he started a lifelong battle with Parkinson’s disease. He bravely continued working and never complained. He tried to stay independent and active. Neil was well liked and respected by all who knew him. He was honest, kind, fair and appreciated for his dry sense of humor.
Neil is survived by his wife of 60-plus years, Elaine; children, Neil MacKinnon III, Rob MacKinnon (Cathy), Greg MacKinnon (Lisa) and Amanda Barton (Mike); grandchildren, Neil MacKinnon IV, Nadia MacKinnon, Robbie MacKinnon, Tommy MacKinnon, Ashton MacKinnon, Charlotte MacKinnon, Henry Barton, Ady Barton and Olivia Barton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Katherine MacKinnon, and brother-in-law, Ted Reiter.
Friends were received on Wednesday February 18, from 2 until 8 p.m., at Sujkowski-Walker Funeral Home, 830 Lime City Road, Rossford. Services will be conducted on Thursday at 10 a.m., preceded by visitation at 9 a.m., at Rossford United Methodist Church.
