Perrysburg Chorale concert Sat., April 27 at All Saints

Perrysburg Chorale will host its last free concert of the 2023-24 season on Saturday, April 27, 7 p.m., at All Saints Catholic Church, 628 Lime City Road, Rossford. This program, entitled “With Outstretched Hands” features a number of soloists, percussion and various languages.

Wood, NW Ohio counties among the most affordable

SmartAsset recently released its annual study on the most affordable places in the United States and in Ohio, Wood County placed among five northwest Ohio counties listed in the top 10 most affordable places to buy a home, SmartAsset analyzed closing costs, real estate taxes, homeowners insurance and mortgage rates. Wood County came in fifth with average closing costs of $3,402; average annual property tax, $2,997; average annual homeowners insurance, $1,473; average annual mortgage payment, $11,820, and median income, $77,422.

Rossford BOE approves agreement with OAPSE

Following a brief executive session early in the meeting, the Rossford board of education approved a contract with the Ohio Association of Public School Employees. At the April 15 meeting, the board entered into a three-year contract with the 87-members of OAPSE.

New summer drone camp offered at the R

Rossford Schools is launching a new drone camp this summer from July 8 to 19 for sixth through eighth grade students at the R. The camp will have 30 students take part in the “Drone Legends” program. The new program is possible through a partnership with the Bulldog Foundation and First Solar. First Solar pledged $5,000 a year for five years to the Bulldog Foundation to start and develop the camp. The plan is to grow the camp into other science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) areas to reach more students. The donation is integral as this new summer camp launches.

April is distracted driving month

On April 2, Safe Communities released its crash data. There has been one fatal crash to date compared to five last year at this time, said Sandy Wiechman, coordinator.
