Rossford BOE approves personnel matters

At the April 24 meeting, the Rossford board of education took action on a number of personnel matters. They issued continuing contracts for 2023-24 to Amy Brown, Julie Odenweller and Kellie Kelly.

City council authorizes creation of a DORA

Rossford city council adopted an ordinance creating a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area, which will span much of the downtown area. At the April 24 meeting, council approved the measure unanimously, with the exception of Councilman Robert Ruse who was not in attendance.

Free tours of the former Libbey-Owens-Ford company

NSG, the former Libbey-Owens-Ford (LOF) Company, will offer free guided tours on four to six-person golf carts at its float glass facility on Friday, July 28, from 1 to 5 p.m. Groups will learn about various elements of the glass making-process while enjoying local history at the facility.

Donations accepted for upcoming Healing Barn event

The Healing Barn, a nonprofit horse rescue facility at 27731 Bradner Road, Millbury, will host “Be a Horse Hero” fund-raiser on Friday, August 25, at Hilton Garden Inn, Perrysburg. The evening will feature music from DC Taylor, live and silent auctions, food and cash bar.

Mobile mammography van screenings set for May

The Mercy Health mobile mammography unit will visit Wood County on the following dates: •Thursday, May 4, Mercy Health–Perrysburg Primary Care and Walk-in, 1103 Village Square •Monday, May 8, Mercy Health–Starbright Primary Care, 28555 Starbright Boulevard •Monday, May 15, Mercy Health–Perrysburg Primary Care and Walk-in, 1103 Village Square •Wednesday, May 31, Mercy Health–Starbright Primary Care, 28555 Starbright Boulevard Appointments can be scheduled by calling 833MAMM-VAN. The mobile mammography unit is customized for patient convenience and will deliver 3D mammograms to women age 40 and older.

City of Rossford awarded certificate of achievement

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City of Rossford for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year that ended December 31, 2021. The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

Rossford Public Library installs solar energy tables

Kristine Goldsmith, director of the Rossford Public Library, says that the library has been looking to find a way to raise awareness of solar power capabilities and employ them at the library. Last week, two EnerFusion solar charging tables were installed in the green space behind the building.

RBA to award two $500 scholarships

The Rossford Business Association will award two $500 scholarships again this year. Applications can be picked up in the guidance counselor’s office at Rossford High School.
