RHS collects items for care package drive, May 9 to 19

The Rossford Junior/Senior High School Serving Our Soldiers (SOS) club is holding a care package drive, collecting items to support the “All Saints Show Them We Care” program, which sends monthly care packages to local soldiers serving overseas.

RBA celebrates 2023 scholarship winners

Isabella Garza inducted into Phi Kappa Phi

Isabella Garza, of Rossford, was recently initiated into the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi, a collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. A student at the University of Toledo, Isabella is among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year.

A large number of residents turned out on May 3, when Rossford Schools hosted a Centennial Celebration at the junior/senior high school. Held in conjunction with the annual art show, the event featured a display of the various art media created by students in grades kindergarten through 12, as well as pieces submitted by alumni and staff.

Rossford BOE discusses children’s book on slavery, plans to reschedule visit by illustrator

When discussing slavery and the evils that go hand-in-hand with the institution, the subject matter is challenging to address, particularly when it comes to young learners. At the April 24 meeting, the Rossford board of education heard from the illustrator of a children’s book, “An American Story,” who questioned why her visit to talk about the book was canceled.

Summer festival features country music stars

Local families are encouraged to clear the calendar for the weekend of June 16 to 18 and plan three days of music, fun and family-friendly entertainment. As part of the 125th Anniversary of Rossford, the city has secured nationally acclaimed country artists; Grammy winner Ashley McBryde, and Gary LeVox—front man for Rascal Flatts, as well as local artist and nationalaward winning polka band, DynaBrass.
