Stanley William Bishop, age 91, of Rossford, went to his eternal home with the Lord on June 17, 2023. He was born in Rossford, to Pearl (Nawrocki) and Linus Bishop. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Frances Kelly, Germaine Konesni and Veronica Shinaver.

Stan attended St. Mary Magdalene Catholic grade school and graduated from Rossford High School in 1949. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, where he participated in services as an altar boy while young and later as an usher.

Stan enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Germany from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. He later enlisted in the Air National Guard 180th Fighter Wing, retiring in 1991 from the civil engineering division as Chief Master Sergeant.

In 1957, Stan married Mary Louise Konesni and they shared 62 years together until Mary’s passing in 2019.

They enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren.

Stan worked as a millwright at Libbey-Owens-Ford and retired after 42 years. Stan kept busy in retirement by helping many friends and neighbors with mechanical repairs.

Stan started golfing at age 66 and was a fixture at Bayview Retirees Golf Course, where he volunteered for more than 20 years. He brought his energy and various mechanical skills “just trying to provide a nice place for seniors to play golf.” Over the years, Stan had two holesin- one and was even featured in a segment of Channel 13’s “Feel Good Friday,” where he shared his love of golf and being a Bayview volunteer at the age of 91.

Stan is survived by his daughter, Diane; son, Allen (Elaine) Bishop; grandchildren, Dr. Alexandra (Dr. Killian) Llewellyn and Austin (Erica) Bishop.

The family sincerely thanks Father Scott Woods and the VFW Walbridge Post 9963 Color Guard for their participation in a private graveside service at St. Rose Cemetery.

In his final reflections, Stan noted that he had a wonderful life, that God blessed him with a great wife and family, he had met many wonderful people along the way, and he had many good friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Catholic Church, 628 Lime City Road, Rossford.
