Dale L. Myers, age 88, of Leesburg, formerly of Rossford and Perrysburg, died September 7, 2022, after a brief illness. He was a retired pharmacist and former president/owner of Myers’ Rexall Drugs and Myers’ Dixie Pharmacy in Rossford. His father started the family business in Rossford on April 15, 1945. Following the sale of the pharmacy in 1987, he was director of administration for Pharmacy Card, Inc. in Maumee, for five years. Until his retirement in 1998, he served as a consultant pharmacist for Heartland Healthcare Services in Toledo.

He was the husband of the late Barbara Ann (Reucher) Myers, who preceded him in death in 1999. They were married for almost 45 years and together raised a family of five children. A sister, Mary Sue Sullivan; son, David; daughter, Patti, and grandson, Michael Fresenius Jr., also preceded him in death. Angel, a Jack Russell Terrier, who was given to him by his family, was his constant companion for 11 years until her death in 2010.

Dale was born in Toledo, in 1933, to parents Earl C. and Lillian E. (Deibler) Myers, both of whom preceded him in death. Mr. Myers lived in Rossford, from 1957 until 1994, when he moved to Perrysburg, into his dream home, a log cabin that he helped to design and build.

His present wife, Patricia Ann (Madden, Knitz) survives; as do his children, Nancy Grinonneau, Thomas (Laurie) and Steven (Janet); plus 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Myers was active in community life in Rossford, where he served for 10 years on the Rossford Board of Education. During this time, he was a charter board member on the Penta County Joint Vocational School District Board of Education as Rossford’s representative. He also was a member of the board of trustees for the Michael J. Owens Technical College, now named Owens Community College in Perrysburg. Mr. Myers also was precinct committeeman, a member of the Rossford Civil Service Commission and a member of the Rossford mayor’s advisory committee. He was the recipient of several community and school awards, but was most proud of chairing the Exchange Club of Rossford’s E.P.I.C. (Eradicate Polio in the Community) where the Sabin oral polio vaccine was provided to all the citizens of the school district, regardless of their ability to pay. Voluntary contributions to offset the cost of the vaccine resulted in a cash surplus, which was turned over to a combined schoolcommunity board, where monies were disbursed to those in need of clothing, eye glasses, etc.

Aside from community service, Mr. Myers served on the advisory board for the former Mid-Am Bank and was a board member for First Federal Savings Bank (Wood Bancorp) for 25 years. Mr. Myers graduated from Central Catholic High School in Toledo, in 1951 and from the University of Toledo, college of pharmacy in 1956. He was a parishioner of the former Saint Mary Magdalene, now All Saints, parish in Rossford and has been a parishioner at the Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Mt. Dora, Florida, since moving to Leesburg in September of 2003.

Mr. Myers married his present wife, Patricia, in August 2001, at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Erie, Michigan, where she was a lifelong parishioner. Fifty years prior to their marriage, Dale and Patricia were classmates at Central Catholic High School and had not seen nor heard from each other until they were re-introduced via the internet that spring. They enjoyed each other’s company and traveled extensively since their marriage. They were especially fond of their cruise excursions. In 2008, they built a summer home at Indian Lake in Cedar Grove, Tennessee.

There will be no visitation, per Mr. Myers’ request. The National Cremation Society of Leesburg is handling arrangements. A Memorial Mass at Saint Patrick’s is planned for a later date. The family remaining in Ohio is planning a Celebration of Life for Dale (Dad) on Thursday, October 6, at the W.W. Knight Nature Center, Hankison Great Room. W.W. Knight is located at 29530 White Road in Perrysburg. The family will welcome visitors at the center between the hours of 3 and 7 p.m. They are looking forward to sharing fond and fun memories of Dale at that time.

Memorials may be made to Saint Patrick Catholic Church, All Saints Catholic Church, Central Catholic High School, the Saint Charles Mercy Health Foundation or the University of Toledo, College of Pharmacy, Alumni Foundation.
