Millie (Stepan) Nollenberger, 94, of Rossford, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2023, at Charter Senior Living in Sylvania. She was born in Toledo, on February 20, 1929, to the late Rudy and Frances (Brzak) Stepan, and was a lifelong resident of Rossford. She graduated from Rossford High School in 1946 and was a member of Rossford United Methodist Church.

She met her late husband of 42 years, Dr. Howard Nollenberger, while working at Owens College in 1969, and was a familiar face and voice to customers as a secretary for the Smithers Insurance Agency for many years in the 70s and 80s.

Millie enjoyed golfing and bowling with friends for decades, and she and Howard made lifelong friends they met wintering in Florida and as they traveled across the country in their camper for many years following retirement.

Millie loved to dance and her favorite times were spent enjoying the music of the Glass Town Sound, the band her late son, Larry Szabo, led for 30 years. Millie’s long life was a gift to her family, and she continued to provide an extraordinary example of love and support to her children and grandchildren over the years.

In addition to Howard and Larry, she was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ernie Szabo; an infant daughter; sisters, Nana (Dick ) Skaff and Helen (Ed) Hendrezak, and granddaughter, Alexandra Reisner. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie (John) Reisner; son, Howard “Skip” (Gunda) Nollenberger; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Szabo; grandchildren, Corey Szabo, Marissa McKinney, Jeremiah Nollenberger; great-granddaughter, Mia McKinney; a new greatgrandchild expected in April, and several nieces and nephews.

While there will be no memorial services per Millie’s wishes, her family would like to thank the staffs of Charter Senior Living of Oak Openings and Transitions Hospice for all their efforts to provide relief and peace to her over her final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you be kind to each other, share a loving hug where needed, and celebrate Millie with a fond memory and a toast to “a long loving life.”
