Benjamin Randall Emch, 43, of Marysville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on April 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Ben was bom in Bowling Green, on July 26, 1979, to his parents Randall “Pete” and Michelle (Miles) Emch, and grew up in Rossford, alongside his sister, Sarah. He attended Rossford High School, graduating in 1997, and later earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and information systems at the University of Toledo. He was employed in various finance positions throughout his career, most recently serving as a budget director at a university.

Ben was the type of person that made an impact on people everywhere he went. From a young age, he excelled in all things academic and athletic. Whatever he tried, he was great at, and he had a knack for making things look easy. While in high school, Ben excelled at football, tennis, basketball and wrestling. He also spent time enjoying baseball, soccer and golf. Bom into an established football family, Ben was an outstanding quarterback-named to the All-League team and inducted into the Rossford Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007. However, above all things, Ben was known to have a huge heart, always protecting and defending those important to him.

More than anything else in the world, Ben loved his 6-year-old daughter, Shelby, and was constantly making her feel loved and cared for. His competitive nature was strong, even when he was playing games with her, but it is known to some that he would occasionally let her win. Shelby taught Ben how to make bracelets, and he would proudly wear whatever she made for him. She brought out the absolute best in him, and she will forever love and miss her “Daddy.”

In his free time, Ben enjoyed the simple things in life like woodworking and playing tricks on his family. He loved to golf, and according to his father, “Drove the golf ball further than anyone he knew.” In May 2011, Ben and his playful personality made sure that everyone knew that he scored his first hole-in-one before his father did. Ben was a very genuine guy with a compassionate heart and everyone who knew him agreed that he truly didn’t realize his worth. He was loved by so many people and will be incredibly missed.

Ben is survived by his dearest daughter, Shelby, and her mother, Sara (Collins) Emch; parents, Randall “Pete” and Michelle (Miles) Emch; sister and brother-inlaw, Sarah and Ryan De-Lauter, and niece Jocelyn, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard and Betty Emch, Jack and Fern Miles; uncles, Larry Emch, Tom Moore, and aunt, Linda Podiak.

A celebration of Ben’s life will be held at the Electrical Industry Banquet facility, 727 Lime City Road, Rossford, on Sunday, April 30. All are welcome to attend between the hours of 2 and 6 p.m., to share favorite memories and stories of Ben. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Shelby’s future. A UTMA account has been created with Edward Jones for her in Ben’s honor. If you would still like to send flowers, they can be sent to the family at walkerfuneral homes.com.
