Central Catholic High School holiday show

Central Catholic High School will present its annual Sounds of Christmas holiday show on Sunday, December 11, at 3 p.m. at the Valentine Theatre, 410 Adams Street, Toledo. The show features performances by the Central Catholic Glee Club, mixed chorus, string orchestra, concert band, Irish Dance Team, and alumni Glee Club. Ticket sales begin Tuesday, November 15, at 10 a.m. Call the theatre box office at 419-242-2787 or visit the box office 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Adult tickets are $12, plus venue fee and students are $7. Tickets also are available at etix.com with an additional charge.

Holiday charity gallery

A holiday charity gallery, hosted by River East Gallery, is set for Sunday, December 11, from 1 to 4 p.m. at 601 Main Street, Toledo. All proceeds and donations will benefit the Cherry Street Mission. Admission is $5 or a donation of blankets, adult clothes, pillows and pillowcases, hygiene products, twin sheets, socks and winter gloves.

Christmas home tours

The Friends of the Pemberville Public Library continues the tradition of Christmas home tours with five area houses on Saturday, December 3, from 2 to 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the library or at individual homes on the day of the tours for $15. Refreshments will be served at the library during the tour. Also, from November 28 through December 16, raffle tickets will be sold for 12-inch decorated theme trees with the children’s book included. The display of trees will be at the library. The winner will be chosen Friday, December 16. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

Lucas County holiday light show

The Lucas County Holiday Light Show is open at the Lucas County Fairgrounds. Guests will see a mile of dancing light displays all from the comfort of their car. By tuning the radio to the station provided, families will enjoy a synchronized marriage of sights and sounds as the characters animate in time with music. Visitors can expect to take 20 to 25 minutes to drive through the show in its entirety. The show runs on select dates through December 31. Advance tickets are $25 per car load with a reservation, or $62.50 for unlimited visits, which requires no reservation. Tickets may be purchased at the gate, although availability is not guaranteed. Tiffin holiday house tours

Eight buildings including the Seneca County Museum and the Grammes-Brown House are open to visitors during the Tiffin Historic Trust Holiday House Tour on Sunday, December 4, from 1 to 5 p.m. Tickets are available at Great Lakes Ace Hardware, 1550 West Market Street, Tiffin. On December 4, the tickets will be sold only at the Grammes-Brown House, 172 Jefferson Street, beginning at 12:30 p.m. The ticket donation is $20 per person. Free Christmas concert, recital

The community is invited to enjoy special musical Christmas offerings December 11 and 15 at First Presbyterian Church of Maumee, 200 East Broadway.

The annual Christmas Concert is at 4 p.m., Sunday, December 11. The monthly recital series continues at 1 p.m., on Thursday, December 15. Both events are free and will be held in the church’s sanctuary.

The two-part Christmas concert on December 11 will highlight church musicians and guest artists, with traditional Christmas performances presented by the Chancel Choir, Handbell Choir, and organist Wayne Whitten to begin the concert.

The second part features the church’s modern service musicians sharing a performance of “Behold the Lamb of God,” a folk-style, Advent song-cycle by Andrew Peterson that traces the story and hope of Christ found throughout the scriptures. A reception of wassail punch and Christmas cookies will follow.

The monthly Afternoon Recital Series on December 15 will include performances from area musicians: Yasmeen Perrin, soprano; Julia Gries, mezzo-soprano; Nick Kottman, tenor; and Lucas Lourenco, baritone, along with sing-alongs of classic Christmas carols. The program will have a duration of approximately 50 minutes. An informal reception will follow.
