Class of 2022 Rossford High School graduate Michael Nawrocki has committed to playing football in the fall at Trine University.
Planning to major in computer and information science, he is the son of Paul and Laurie Nawrocki.
Michael said he chose the Division III school because of its academics and strong football program.
“I grew up vacationing in Angola every summer and love the area,” he explained.
“Trine happens to have one of the better computer science programs within the distance I was looking for a college.”
With the AP credits and College Credit Plus credits he earned in high school, Michael expects to graduate in four years with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in his major.
“The football program was also a good fit–I was impressed with both the facilities and the coaching staff,” he noted.
The Trine Thunder compete in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
At RHS, while on the Bulldog football team, he was named Rossford special teams Player of the Year in 2020 and 2021 and earned Northern Buckeye Conference Honorable Mention in 2020 and 2021.
He also played on the varsity soccer and varsity bowling teams, and CYO basketball team.
Other extracurricular activities included marching band and percussion captain for three years, wind ensemble, jazz band, drama club, varsity choir and academic team.
Michael was a scholar-athlete all semesters of high school, a National Honor Society member, Promethean Awards recipient and graduated magna cum laude with a 3.8 GPA.
He also volunteered at All Saints Catholic Church with the church festival, ethnic food preparation, symphony and more.
Michael was the Youth Leadership Toledo representative for Rossford, Buckeye Boys State delegate and band member and a Wood County Student of the Month.
He was awarded the Richard Wallin Scholarship, Legacy Scholarship, Athletic Boosters Scholarship, American Legion Scholarship, Distinguished Student Scholarship and Bowling Activity Scholarship.
