The Rossford Bulldog Foundation received a $5,000 donation from Amazon this week.
Mayor Neil MacKinnon III announced the contribution at Monday’s city council meeting.
“Amazon changed the trajectory of the city of Rossford,” he noted, citing the $350 million fulfillment center that the company built in the Crossroads last year.
“We really appreciate everything you have done,” the mayor said.
The company has since hired 4,500 hourly employees and 500 salaried employees, he added.
Their first gift to the community was $25,000 for STEM projects and classes at Rossford Schools.
“The plan for this grant is to use the funds to help establish an e-sports program,” said Rex Huffman, foundation board member, after the meeting.
The Bulldog Foundation is an independent, non-profit, taxexempt 501(c)(3) organization.
It was formed four years ago with the goals of honoring tradition, reinforcing Bulldog pride and fostering potential among students.
