Fall Programs and Events

The Rossford Public Library quickly adapted to changing circumstances in late May and was able to provide a combination of hybrid online and outdoor in-person programming.

One of the highlights of the summer was the annual Libraries Rock summer concert series.

We were really disappointed at the prospect of not being able to host our concerts for a second year in a row, but fortunately, kept in close contact with the performers that we had to cancel last year. They were all lined up and ready to go in the event that we got the green light.

Once we found out we could host outdoor concerts, we were up and running very quickly.

We had nice participation from the community, but not so much from the weather. We held all concerts, rain or shine and the only negative comments that we heard were that there just weren’t enough concerts.

We listened to the community and are pleased to announce that we have scheduled a two-week encore of live music on the lawn. “Renewed for Two More Weeks!” will feature Out of the Blue, a crossover-country and classic rock band on September 1, and the Bradberries playing dance music September 8.

Early literacy story times will resume the week of September 20.

Storytimes for 4 to 6 year olds will take place on Monday evenings at 6 p.m. from September 27 through November 8.

1-2-3 Read for infants and toddlers between the ages of 1 and 3 years old will resume as well. Participants may either register for the Tuesday 6 p.m. group or the Wednesday 10 a.m. group.

1-2-3 Read will start September 21 and continue through November 10.

The library will present an interesting program on the history of the Cleveland Indians (now Guardians).

Author and speaker Marty Gitlin will present “The Ultimate Cleveland Indians Time Machine” and will cover the most interesting events in team history.

Mr. Gitlin will cover the ball club from the 1899 Spiders, to the 1940s Crybabies through the 1948 World Champions and the glory days of the 1990s, plus the 1974 Beer Night Fiasco and culminate with the recent death of Chief Wahoo and team name change.

This program is free and open to all on Wednesday evening, September 15, at 6 p.m. in the library’s lantern area.
