The Rossford Fire and Rescue Department (RFRD) wants to welcome back all students as they return after a trying and difficult time that, while it is easing, is not completely over with.
In July, we had our busiest month in three years answering 112 calls for service.
As of this writing, the RFRD is staffed with two firefighter/EMTs around the clock through the end of 2021.
We are due to get a new medic unit at the end of September that was paid for with federal CARES Act funds. This unit will have air filtration, a permanent UV light installed for disinfection and upgraded climate control in the patient compartment.
We are currently in the process of applying for two grants–one for a new ladder truck and one to provide full-time personnel to staff the station.
We will know the status of these grants in the first half of calendar year 2022.
Our current roster is 28 members, and we are always looking for people to join our fire department, applications are available at city hall or online at rossfordohio.com
The RFRD offers CPR classes, free smoke detectors and car seat installation.
If you need any of these services, please contact Fire Chief Josh Drouard at 419-666-0210, extension 230, or via email at jdrouard@rossfordohio.com.
