A new fiscal officer has been appointed for Perrysburg Township.

Following a 30-minute executive session at the June 16 meeting, the trustees unanimously approved the appointment of Hannah Nelson to replace Shirley Haar, who stepped down from the position on June 4 after two decades of service.

Ms. Nelson was selected over two other candidates, Linda Wilker and Ashley Lopez and a fourth person dropped out from consideration.

The trustees pointed out that Ms. Nelson is qualified for the position.

A graduate of the University of Phoenix with a bachelor of science in management, she is currently pursuing a master of business administration and accounting at Bowling Green State University.

She is employed at Brangham and Associates of Maumee as staff accountant handling payroll. Prior to that, she was an account manager for Gluckle Insurance and Financial.

The daughter of Lake Township police chief and administrator Mark Hummer, Ms. Nelson will hold office until March 31, 2022, and can run for the remainder of the four-year term in the November general election.

Should she be elected, Ms. Nelson will take the oath of office April 1, 2022, and serve until the term expires on March 31, 2024.

The trustees welcomed Ms. Nelson to the township, and Trustee Bob Mack encouraged employees to be patient as the new fiscal officer and financial specialist Jamie Slee “learn the ropes. And feel free to call us with anything.”
