City of Toledo seeks snow plow operators

The City of Toledo division of road and bridge maintenance is extending the registration period for snow plow owners/operators. As the winter season approaches, the city is in need of snow plow vehicles to join the team to ensure safe and accessible residential streets during heavy snow conditions.

Cookie walk to support Toledo Helps Ukraine

Toledo Helps Ukraine will be hosting a cookie walk on Saturday, December 9, from 9 a.m. to noon at Owens Community College, Heritage Hall, room 23 A/B. The event will offer hundreds of homemade holiday cookies, plus kolachy and nut rolls for sale. Cookies are $10 for a dozen, and all proceeds go to support the work of Toledo Helps Ukraine.

Rossford High School students inducted into NHS

The Rossford National Honor Society (NHS) held its induction ceremony on November 21, in the school auditorium, welcoming 31 new members. Rossford follows the national guidelines and the RHS National Honor Society Constitution.

Rossford BOE approves five-year forecast

At the November 16 meeting, the Rossford Board of Education approved the district’s latest five-year forecast. For this fiscal year, Treasurer James Rossler expects total revenues will be $28,008,500 with expenses of $31,834,172 million exceeding revenues by $3,825,672.

OSU marching band plays at Rossford High School

On November 24, the Ohio State University marching band visited Rossford for a special concert on its way to the Ohio State versus Michigan football game. The 228-member all-brass and percussion marching band, known as the “Pride of the Buckeyes,” performed music from their 2023 halftime shows along with traditional Buckeye favorites. All proceeds from the event will support the Ohio State Alumni Club of Wood County endowed scholarships for Wood County students and the OSU marching band.

New era for Bulldog basketball begins

After 18 seasons at the helm, Brian Vorst has stepped down as head coach of the Bulldog varsity basketball team. His replacement is Jonathan Reitz who is in his first year as a varsity head coach, but is no stranger to the RHS program.

Rossford city council hears concerns about fire department

Though not planned for discussion or business during Rossford’s first post-Election Day meeting, the future of the city’s fire department took center stage during audience remarks. At the November 13 meeting, three residents spoke about the issue of full-time service for Rossford.
