Rossford Library hosts two more weeks of concerts

The Rossford Public Library has “renewed” its summer concert season for two more weeks. Due to inclement weather on recent Wednesday evenings, the bands scheduled to play have agreed to play new dates in August.

The District to flush fire hydrants in unincorporated Perrysburg area

The Northwestern Water and Sewer District’s maintenance department will be flushing and testing fire hydrants through September 15. Tests will be performed on hydrants in the areas surrounding the City of Perrysburg; east on State Route 20 and I-75, south to Oak Meadows, and from Perrysburg Heights to Willowbend Subdivision, including all subdivisions not incorporated along State Route 65, on the west side of the city.

Nawrocki named to Trine Univ. president’s list

Rossford resident, Michael Nawrocki, was named to the president’s list for the spring 2023 term at Trine University. Michael graduated from Rossford High School in 2022 and is majoring in computer science and information technology.

City of Rossford celebrates 125 years

Rossford residents enjoyed annual Riverfest celebrations and 125 years of its beautiful hometown in sunny weather on July 29. With thousands in attendance, the city showed off the best of what it has to offer. The 125th anniversary parade stepped off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, featuring more than 60 groups who walked, drove, danced, marched and pedaled the route for a crowd of more than 1,000. Evening events were held at Veterans Memorial Park and featured local vendors, live music, food trucks, circus performers, fireworks and more. The celebrations were made possible by the Rossford Business Association, Rossford Convention and Visitors Bureau and donations from local businesses.

Local yoga instructor turns struggles into strengths

Those who love strolling along the banks of the Maumee River may have noticed a rare sight: someone swimming toward the bay. Joe Sparks is hard to miss, wearing a neon pink swimmers cap with goggles atop his head. Mr. Sparks sees himself as “a local guy who’s trying to show that I can do big things.”

One issue on Aug. 8 election ballot

Registered voters will be asked to decide one issue on the ballot Tuesday, August 8. The state has a proposed Constitutional amendment that would: •require that any proposed amendment to the Constitution of the State of Ohio receive the approval of at least 60 percent of eligible voters voting on the proposed amendment; •require that any initiative petition filed on or after January 1, 2024 with the Secretary of State proposing to amend the Constitution of the State of Ohio be signed by at least 5 percent of the electors of each county based on the total vote in the county for governor in the last preceding election; •specify that additional signatures may not be added to an initiative petition proposing to amend the Constitution of the State of Ohio that is filed with the Secretary of State on or after January 1, 2024 proposing to amend the Constitution of the State of Ohio.

Park district celebrates boardwalk opening

Visitors to W.W. Knight Nature Preserve in Perrysburg Township will be pleasantly surprised to find one of the park trails has reopened. Last year, the Wood County Park District closed the boardwalk through a marshy section of the park due to its deteriorating condition.

Five Point Steam Threshers celebrate 61 years

Rain a week earlier had forced the postponement of the annual Five Point Steam Threshers, but, it was “full steam ahead” on July 23. Several thousand people turned out to watch as area farmers used antique steam engines to thresh the wheat.
