Rossford follows the national guidelines and the RHS National Honor Society Constitution. These guidelines were established by the National Association of Secondary School Principals who oversee the NHS.

There is no set number of students who will be selected each year.

The candidate process begins with inviting sophomore, junior and senior students who have a 3.4 grade point average after at least one semester at RHS. Penta students also are included in this process.

Eligible students submit an activity sheet that is rated by teachers, coaches and advisors they have worked with in grades 9 to 12.

Candidates must have a 3.0 or better, based on a 4.0 decimal system with the highest and lowest rating eliminated, in each of the three categories.

Candidates must be rated by a minimum of eight RHS staff members on character, leadership, and service. The NHS Faculty Council meets to discuss and consider the overall ratings of eligible candidates. The student must have a 3.0 or better in each of the three categories and an overall 3.40 average for the four categories of character, leadership, scholarship and service.

The Faculty Council selects new NHS members after review of the student activity sheets, teacher rating sheets, comments and discussion. A majority vote is necessary for selection.
