U.S. Representative Bob Latta of Bowling Green has announced his re-election bid in Ohio’s Fifth Congressional District.

“The people who call Ohio home represent the best of our country. It is my greatest honor to represent such hardworking Americans who are committed to our country’s success both at home and abroad,” he said.

“There is much work ahead of us to get our country back on track, including lowering every day costs at the pump, combating inflation, securing and strengthening our Southern border and getting folks back to work while supporting our job creators.”

Rep. Latta is currently serving his seventh term in the U.S. House of Representatives.

As the Republican Leader of the House energy and commerce committee’s subcommittee on communications and technology, and as a member of the committee’s subcommittees on energy and consumer protection and commerce, he oversees issues including energy, telecommunications, food and drug safety, health care and interstate and foreign commerce.

He also serves as deputy whip, co-chairman of the rural broadband caucus, and is a past co-chairman of the congressional sportsmen’s caucus.

Previously, Congressman Latta was a member of the committee on agriculture, committee on the budget, and the committee on transportation and infrastructure.

Mr. Latta also served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2001 to 2007, the Ohio Senate from 1997 to 2001, and as a Wood County Commissioner from 1991 to 1996.

A lifelong resident of northwest Ohio, he is focused on promoting economic prosperity and job creation in Ohio, as well as throughout the country, and believes national leaders must balance the budget, reduce the national debt and work toward commonsense government reforms.

He and his wife Marcia live in Bowling Green and have two daughters, Elizabeth and Maria.

Congressman Latta also is a member of the Bowling Green Noon Kiwanis, having served as president, director and trustee, and the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce and the Wood County Farm Bureau.

“It is a privilege to be Ohio’s Fifth Congressional District’s voice in the U.S. House of Representatives today, and I look forward to the opportunity to continue to do so for years to come.”

In the Congressional map approved by the Ohio legislature, Rep. Latta currently–or previously–has represented 10 of the 11 counties comprising the Fifth Congressional District.
