The Rossford School District is partnering with the Wood County Educational Service Center to provide free, expanded summer academic programs for students.

According to Megan Spangler, curriculum director, only students in kindergarten through grade 5 previously were eligible for the summer academy, but students through grade 8 are invited this year.

In past years, only morning sessions were provided, but now the academy will be offered 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There will be two, four-week sessions, and bus transportation will be provided.

It will include academic intervention and engaging enrichment activities, she explained. Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided at no cost to families.

As many as 48 students per grade level may enroll, Mrs. Spangler said, which is a large increase from last year’s 12 students per grade.

Registration for the summer academy is now open online at rossfordschools.org and will close April 30.
