On October 27, the Indiana/ Kentucky/Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters and the Ohio Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship and Training Center hosted an open house at the carpenters’ training center on Bass Pro Boulevard in Rossford. More than 600 students from area high schools visited the center to learn about careers as carpenters, floor layers and millwrights. They met with contractors, 27 vendors and product representatives and explored hands-on activities.

Anyone who chooses to enroll as an apprentice after graduation from high school will receive on-the job training, 30 college credits through Cuyahoga Community College upon completion of the program, medical benefits and a pension. The current hourly wages are, millwrights, $33.01; carpenters, $30.75; floor layers, $30.45. For more information, visit ohcap.org.
