Clay Polar Bears

Pottery class offered on Thursday, December 1, from 10 a.m. to noon. Students will explore simple slab-building techniques making festive polar bears. Choosing the perfect eye style and colors will make each polar unique. Class is open to all adults, no experience needed. Class meets in the Pottery Barn. 577 instructor is Julie Beutler. Morning Yoga for Your Health

Three-week class offered online or in-person on Thursdays, December 1, 8, 15, from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Yoga means ‘to yoke’–connecting the mind and the body. Students will focus on movement, breath, peacefulness, and mindfulness. The movements can be altered for all levels. Students need to provide their own mat. This class is recorded and shared with registrants so they can revisit the lesson for two weeks after the class. Class meets in Virginia’s House or on Zoom. Community instructor is Pam Bortz. Furoshiki: EcoFriendly Gift Wrapping with Fabric Class offered on Saturday, December 3, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Students will explore ways to wrap gifts that are thoughtful, meaningful, beautiful, and friendly to both the earth and the bank account. Fabric and textiles come in such a wide range of patterns and textures that they make gorgeous, personalized gift wrap. Since it is more pliable than paper, fabric fits a wider range of gift shapes, and it is reusable for many years to come. Each student will receive one Furoshiki cloth to take home. Building the Perfect Cheese Plate

Class offered on Thursday, December 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. Students will gather for a fun and casual evening to learn about and taste a variety of cheese and accompaniments. They will learn various ways to create an attractive display. Class meets in Virginia’s Kitchen. Community instructor is Diana DePasquale. Class fee is $30.

Creating an Illustrated Field Journal

Class offered on Friday, December 9, from 11:00 a.m. to noon. Students will be introduced to the concept of keeping an illustrated record of the seasonal changes that are often overlooked. Students will learn to not only record their thoughts, but to sketch and draw what they see, creating meaningful pages through the use of word and image. No writing or drawing experience is necessary, only the desire to have some fun while exploring the natural world. Class meets in Virginia’s House. Community instructor is David Lymanstall. Acrylic Painting: Cardinal on a Water Pump

Class offered on Monday, December 12, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Students will be guided step-by-step to paint a rushing waterfall with fall trees and rocks on an 11” x 14” canvas. All supplies are provided. No experience is needed. Class meets in Virginia’s House. Community instructor is Mary Claire Roe. Class fee is $28.

Warming Winter Drinks

Class offered on Monday, December 12, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

There’s nothing like a hot drink on a cold winter’s night. Students will learn how to craft their own tea, hot cocoa, and mulling spice blends while exploring each ingredient. The finished products make great gifts or as treats to enjoy with friends and family. Class meets in Virginia’s House. Community instructor is Sarah Williams. Class fee is $40.

Needle Felted Angel Ornaments

Class offered on Friday, December 16, from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Students will learn to make a needle felted angel ornament using exotic fibers such as alpaca and llama and adorn them with peacock feathers. Make this an addition to a tree or give as a special gift. Finished piece will be approximately nine inches tall.

Students will need to purchase a foam felt pad needed to complete the project (if they don’t already have one) from the instructor on class day. Foam pads are $12 and are reusable for future classes. Class meets in Virginia’s House. Community instructor is Margret-Ann Miller. Class fee is $42.
