WILSON BEARD JR.
Wilson Beard, Jr., a native of Rossford, passed away unexpectedly in the early morning of Sunday, July 1, 2018, at his home in Chandler, Arizona. Mr. Beard was a fundamental part of the Tisdale Family athletic legacy as a talented three-sport standout in football, basketball and track at Rossford High School. Notably, he was the Northern Lakes League 100-yard (9.9 sec) and 220- yard dash champion and rushed for 1,121 yards in just five games in an injured senior season. Mr. Beard went on to attend the University of Findlay, where he led the Oilers to runner-up and national championship football seasons (1978-79). After a try-out with the New England Patriots, he later moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where he met his future wife, Linda Beard. He worked for Sears Holdings Corporation for many years, received recognition as a Peer Support Specialist for the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and authored the partly autobiographical work, “Stop the Stigma on Mental Illness,” which can be found at RoseDog Books or on Amazon.com. Wilson’s faith in God persisted throughout his life. He is remembered fondly by his wife, Linda Beard of Chandler; siblings, Margaret Beard, Beverly and Stan Paige, Harold Tisdale and Ronald and Terry Tisdale; nieces and nephews, Tiffani, Darren, Richard and Ronnie, and a host of cousins and friends of the Tisdale family and beyond.
