JANE ELLEN SNYDER

Jane Ellen Snyder, 76, of Perrysburg, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Heartland of Perrysburg, where she had received exceptional loving care for the past five years. Jane was born April 22, 1942, in Toledo, to Bob “Coach” and Elinor (Kuney) Snyder. She graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1960 and attended Defiance College and BGSU. She was employed by Lucas County Job and Family Services, retiring in 2001. Jane volunteered at David’s House in the Buddy Program, then later at Planned Parenthood. Some of Jane’s very favorite things were the Ohio State Buckeyes football team, high school and college marching bands, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Santa Claus, and dancing “until her socks melted.” Jane’s life-long passion was getting to know people of all backgrounds and ages and creating friendships with nearly everyone she met. Upon greeting Jane, her family and friends always received a bright smile, braced themselves for a bone-crushing hug, and welcomed her enthusiastic “I love you!” Along with her brother, Tony (LaVerne) Snyder; sister, Mary (Douglas) Bahnsen, and brother-in-law, Steven Verkin, she is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, who were her “children” and therefore deserve to be acknowledged. Her nieces and nephews as her “children” are as follows: Kathleen (Vern) Kiehl, Christine Verkin, Julie (Steve) Morgan, Scott (Angie) Bahnsen, Laura (George) Abbott, Brad (Kristi) Snyder, Molly (Joe) Roth, and Christopher Bahnsen. Jane’s great-nieces and great-nephews as her “children” are Bobby (Kal) Morgan, Jordan Abbott, Stephanie Morgan, Drew Abbott, Hannah Sanchez, Joey Morgan, Leah Sanchez and Emma Bahnsen. A special honor given to Jane was to be “Nana” to Jack Skinner, who knew and loved her as his grandmother. Jane’s family also includes many second, third and fourth cousins, stemming from the Hanefeld and Moschetti families. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elinor; Aunt Clara Kuney; stepmother, Marge (Hanefeld) Snyder; and her sister, Judith Verkin. Friends will be received on Sunday, October 21, from 2 to 8 p.m., at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133), where a Celebration Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. Concluding the memorial service, friends are invited to remain until 8 p.m., to continue gathering and sharing fellowship with Jane’s family. Burial will be private. Jane’s wishes were for memorial contributions to be made to Hospice of Heartland, 28555 Starbright Boulevard, Suite E, Perrysburg.
