Deloy Lee Schramm
Deloy Lee Schramm, 84, of Perrysburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Otterbein Portage Valley. He was born in Perrysburg to Albert and Esther (Lintner) Schramm on August 8, 1933. Deloy married Luella “Cookie” Bohland on November 20, 1954. He worked as a machinist at LOF Glass in Rossford for 35 years and as a bailiff for the Perrysburg Court for 20 years. He also served in the Army National Guard for over 40 years, retiring as a Command Sargent Major (CSM) receiving the Meritorious Service Award. He was an active member of the Rossford Eagles, where he was a past president. He and his loving wife Cookie enjoyed traveling and collecting antiques and often traveled far distances to find that special piece. They took a month-long cross-country road trip to Alaska for their 40th anniversary. Deloy enjoyed golf and gardening and is responsible for many beautiful evergreen trees he planted from seedlings that still stand tall after 50 years. He had a strong sense of responsibility to his family, his country and the organizations he served. He was a person whom many sought guidance from knowing they would get a straightforward “no BS” answer. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Deloy is survived by his wife, Cookie; children, Sharon (John) Haeflinger, Sally (Kim) Snyder, Sandy (Mark) Michalski, John Schramm; grandchildren, Kevin Gallagher, Lauren Gallagher, Stacie Taper, Betsy Taper, Ross Michalski, Davis Michalski; greatgrandchildren, Violet, Addison, Alex, Jacob and Hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Norman, Larry, Harold, and sisters, Madelyn and Nancy. Friends will be received today, January 25, from 2 to 8 p.m., at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133), where an Eagle’s service will take place at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 26, at the funeral home beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Fort Meigs Union Cemetery.
