William J. Kubista, age 79, of Rossford, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 6, 1937, in Rossford, to John and Anna (Yando) Kubista. Bill was a 1956 graduate of Rossford High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Berlin Conflict, where his most honorable memory was to accompany President John F. Kennedy in Berlin. He married Alice (Nemecek) in 1966 and together they raised four children. His first job as a teenager was working for Verbosky’s Grocery Store where he was known as “Billy.” He was employed with Libbey- Owens-Ford Glass Co. in the bending department, retiring after 37 years. Following retirement, he went on to work as a gallery guard for the Toledo Art Museum. Bill was a very patriotic man, a fan of Notre Dame and the Detroit Tigers, enjoyed bird watching and mystery books. Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Alice; children, William (Amanda), Jerry (Cheryl), Julie (James) Lugabihl and Andrea (Josh) Henline; grandchildren, Branden and Brayden Lugabihl, Reese, Ryan, Andrew and Chase Kubista, Robert and Faith “Princess” Henline; sister, Carol Klepacz. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, John. Family and friends may visit at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, 830 Lime City Road, today, August 24, from 2 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 25, at 10:30 a.m., at All Saints Catholic Church where the family will greet visitors beginning at 9:30 a.m., in the church narthex. Interment will follow at Fort Meigs Cemetery in Perrysburg. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Northwood Dialysis, Hospice of Northwest Ohio and the Gary Yoder Family.
