Past, present and future on display at fire open house
A commemoration of past firefighting, a display of current lifesaving technology and a hint of the community’s future made up this year’s annual Rossford Fire Department open house.
Fire Chief Josh Drouard welcomed families and friends of past firefighters, whose names are being added to a plaque. They are William Fitzgerald, George W. Miller, George W. Miller Jr., Frank Chenetski Sr., Thomas Schroeder, Tony Jackson, and John F. Richards.
The chief explained that names are being added as the department has learned of their service.
Mr. Fitzgerald passed away in March 1993, and his daughter Kathy Kornasiewicz recently notified the chief about her father’s work while he lived in the Terraces “before cars when they used to run to the station, which was at L-O-F at the time,” the chief said.
