Park district sets budget for 2018

At the December 12 meeting, the board of commissioners for the Wood County Park District approved a budget of $4.29 million for 2018.

The largest part of appropriations is dedicated to salaries at $1.34 million and fringe benefits including health insurance, $240,000, and Public Employees Retirement System, $198,449.

Rounding out major expenditures are capital improvements at $807,991; land acquisition, $500,000; contract services, $343,600; equipment, $278,791, and supplies, $111,750.

The only change to the budget previously reviewed by the commissioners was the addition of $6,000 for the Slippery Elm Trail. Director Neil Munger said the money will be used to repair a few trail bridges.
