2018 fire/EMS service in Holland reviewed
Springfield Township Fire Chief Barry Cousino presented a year-in-review of fire and EMS operations to Holland Village Council at a December 18 meeting.
“I appreciate the opportunity to give council a summary of the year,” the chief said.
The village has a 20-year contract for the township to provide fire protection/EMS services.
From December 2017 to November 2018, the department received 480 calls in Holland–425 EMS and 55 fire incidents.
Among the 55 fire calls last year were two structure fires, two electrical fires, one vehicle fire and one trash fire. Additionally, they received 30 alarms and one good intent calls.
The 425 EMS calls from Holland last year included 118 ill persons, 72 injured, 46 difficulty breathing, 45 assists, 30 unconscious, 22 injury accidents, 22 heart issues, 18 seizures, six hemorrhages, six cardiac arrests, four strokes, five pediatric accidents, four overdoses, four suicides, and 19 medical alarms, according to the chief’s report.
