William H. “Mr. Bill” Wintersmith, age 80, passed away Friday, November 9, 2018, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo Care Center.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a gunners mate and was a lifetime member of the AMVETS.
Bill was a tool and die maker, employed by City Machine and Tool and Sheller Global. He also served as an engineering consultant for General Motors, assisting in the design of the tools used to build the Cadillac CTS.
Bill was a 28 year resident of Toledo’s Point Place Community and enjoyed living on Lake Erie. An avid boater, he was a member of Ottawa River Yacht Club/Toledo Ice Yacht Club.
Bill is survived by his sons, Bill (Vicki), Tom (Carol) and Dale Wintersmith; daughter, Dani (Scott); seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Pat, Greta, Donald and Allen, and significant other, Sue Byers. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Melvin, Earl and Althea.
A memorial visitation was held Saturday, November 17, from 2 to 4 p.m., at David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 North Summit Street, Toledo. The memorial service for Bill followed at 4 p.m., in the funeral home.
