John J. Fairbairn
John J. Fairbairn, 55, of Point Place, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017, at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born on June 30, 1962, to Robert and Agnes (Kiefer) Fairbairn. John earned an associate’s degree and worked as a mechanical engineer for Applied Technologies for 17 years. John “The Skipper” was one of the founding members of the Lunging Bear Lodge. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Erie, Michigan. He coached youth soccer, baseball, softball, basketball and football. He enjoyed everything Point Place had to offer. He was very gifted artistically but favored drawing in pencil. Those who remain to cherish John’s memory are his wife of 26 years, Maureen (Kern) Fairbairn; daughter, Josie (Jarrod) Snoderly; son, Jacob (Emilee Brenneman) Fairbairn; grandchildren, Maximus, Drake and Everlee; siblings, Sr. Katherine Ann Fairbairn L.S.P., Jeanne (Terry) Sherman, George (Marianne) Fairbairn, Rebecca Homer, and Constance (Chuck) Newell, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ed Fairbairn; brothers-in-law, Jeffery Kern and Kevin Homer, and nephew, Leif Kern. Visitation was held Monday, August 7, from 2 until 8 p.m., with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m., and Tuesday, August 8, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the David R. Jasin- Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 North Summit Street, Toledo, OH 43611. Funeral services were held Tuesday at noon, at the funeral home, with Pastor Richard Powell II officiating.
