Volunteers clear shoreline during ORKA fall clean-up
The Ottawa River Kleanup Association (ORKA) held its fall clean-up project on September 9. Approximately 70 people gathered at the Ottawa River Yacht Club and Cullen Park to clean up the local waterways and shoreline.
The volunteers worked from boats, kayaks and on foot. Participants included members of Point Place area yacht clubs, the Friendship Park Community Center, Friendship Park's Civic Leadership Youth Pilot Project and Northwest Ohio River Runners (NWORR).
ORKA President Mike Cassidy said the project was a great success. Workers collected more than a dumpster load of trash. He expressed his appreciation to all who participated as well as the event sponsors.
